YOUNG GEOGRAPHISTS
On April 15th, the group “Young geographists” visited the St. Trinity church on Poljud, near the Split shipyard. They went with teacher Zoran Ljubić who said a few words about the history of the church. The church itself was made in early-medieval time and presents one of the most important preserved Romanic churches in Croatia. After that the group also visited the monastery of St. Ante on Poljud that was built in 15th century. The teacher explained the connection between the monastery and the St. Trinity church and their history.

An interview with our geography teacher Zoran Ljubić, head of the group
1. How did you get the idea for this extracurricular activity?
I noticed that a lot of students are obsessed with computers and they don´t care about nature, so I decided to make a group for pupils that like geography and nature.

2. Are you happy with the number of students that assigned for it?
I am actually very happy because I didn´t expect more than 10 students but even 15 of them showed up.

3. What are your plans for the group?
We are going to study the relief of Marjan, we are going to visit meteorological station, firefighters station and of course some of the churches on the south part of Marjan.

4. What do you think that students are most interested in this extracurricular activity?
I think they are most interested in going on Marjan, exploring new things and of course learning something new about Geography as a school subject.
