VISITING OLD SPLIT

The history group went to old part of Split again.

There they separated in groups of two or three students. Each group got pictures of some place in old Split and they had to find them. When they found their location they learned something about its history.

Later we all met and shared our knowledge with each other. The goal of this task was to learn more about the history of our city.

History group

Interview with history teacher Jelena Šoljak, head of the group

1 What inspired you to start this history group "Splitski vremeplov“?

Teacher: With this activity I want to teach the students something more about our dear Split and how it became the town we know today.

2 What do you plan for this school year?

Teacher: This year I want to teach my students about the beginins of Split and with the help of the art group we will present our knowledge on the walls of our history classroom, and on the end of the school year we will do a big presentation to everybody in the school about what we learned this school year. Throughout the year we will visit many museums in Split.

3 How many students are participating in this activity?

Teacher: There are 14 students involved in this extracurricular activity and I think that this is the optimal number.

Split's Time Machine

This school year History group is opened to everybody. We are trying to learn as much as possible about history of "the most beautiful city on Earth“.

The person who is leading us to our goal is mrs. Jelena Šoljak, our history teacher. We meet every Wednesday to work in a programme called "Sutori". It is the programme for presentations and we use it for hystorical themes.

We will also visit many history museums and hystorical places such as Diocletian’s Palace with Cathedral of St. Domnius, Peristil, Jupiter’s temple and Vestibulum .

Hop on our time machine, fasten your seatbelt, we wish you a pleasant flight back to past.

Split City Museum

On 26th October 2018 we visited the Split City Museum.

The History group "Splitski vremeplov" visited the museum to see historic sculptures, tools and much more. Our goal was to learn as much as we could about the history of Split. After the tour around the museum, teacher tested our knowledge on a quiz.

We had great results and teacher was happy.

The tour was fun and we are looking forward to new ones.
