Film soundtracks

Music from film that has been made for the film originally or the chosen songs from the film will always stay in our hearts.

It is a reminder of a film  that we adore or  the time that we like to remember.

Soundtracks are as important as the acting in the film, because they are feelings shown through music.

Soundtrack can be made especially for a film. It consists of talking (voice soundtrack), effects (effects soundtrack) and music (music soundtrack) from the film. We often make a mistake thinking that the soundtrack is only the music of the film, but it is not.

Here are some soundtracks that won the Oscar award.

P.S Be good to each other and don't be afraid to explore music.

Back to nostalgia...

Hello and welcome back!

Our new journey through history of music begins!!

We will start with movie soundtracks, some of which won the Oscar awards.

After that our journey continues with pioneers of heavy metal music, rock, and pioneers of elecronic music and techno.

Next station are the forgotten media formats- sucessful ones, and not so successful ones but it's worth mentioning it.

I'm sure it will be interesting!

Last station: weird instruments that maybe you have never heard about!

Actually, all of the themes that I write about are just a little part of the whole history of music.

The history of music is an inexhaustible source of information. And it grows every day.

Read my column and don't fight, instead make new friends and listen to music. Don't forget that old music is good music!

P.S. Here is one of my favourite songs to cheer you up if you have a bad day :)

1969 and 70's

In 1969 a lot of things happend in the world of music. From Gershon Kingsley's first techno pop song, to the greatest concert in the world ever – Woodstock.

Woodstock was a concert created by Michael Lang. The entrance was 8 dollars because he thought that about 200 people would come. But he was wrong! About 400-500 people came so Michael Lang decided that the entrance would be free. The location was on Max Yagsur's farm.

Woodstock had a big effect on the music of 70's.

70's were actually known for the rock bands such as Deep Purple, Pink floyd, AC/DC, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Black Sabbath.

In the 70's there was another sensation: the disco genre. It was created in New York clubs . Later, disco spread all around the world. Some of bands that played disco music were Bee Gees, Village People, Boney M, ABBA, Kraftwerk (who are the pioneers of electonic music) and many others.

50's and 60's

After World War 2 music was going to the next level. Jazz, blues and classic music were mixing and creating new genres: rock'n roll and pop. First people who actually made songs in these new genres became popular and everybody wanted to go to their concerts.

The most popular singers from the 50's were Elvis  Presley and Chuck Berry.

60's also had lots of bands and singers who were very popular. 60's were also known for “The British invasion“ - popularity of British bands: The Beatles and Rolling Stones.

Another important thing about 60's was that the group of people called "Hippies" fought against war and violence.

Some of them were also famous singers like Janis Joplin and Scott McKenzie. There are also Chubby Checker and The Shadows.

But, one day in 1969 Gershon Kingsley created the first techno song - Popcorn.

Medias in the 20th century

Medias are a part of our life, and we can not imagine our world without them.  Today, everything is accessible on the Internet, even small children can use it for listening to nursery rhymes. But, not so long ago our parents were listening to music in other ways.

Everything started in 1878 when Thomas Alva Edison made a phonograp . It was a machine that recorded and played music on metal rolls..

Emile Berlinger made a new revolutionary machine called “gramophone“ or turntable. Sound was recorded on vinyl records.

Today we have modern turntables with many options such as scraching on vinyl records, and other things that DJs use to mash up two songs for great party nights.

Radio was made by Nikola Tesla, but Guglielmo Marconi stole his idea. The first radio was tested by Marconi and George Kemp. The test was about sending a signal from England to Canada. Later Marconi made a first radio station called          “Marconi radio“.

After that, many others helped to make the  radio that we know today. Also, radio was used in the military, and it was of great importance.

Cassette recorders were also popular. In the 20th century cassettes were also used in car radios. People could choose the music in their own cars. After that CDs dominated. First CD was made in 1965 by James T. Russell.

Today, people don't use cassettes any more, CD-s are not so popular because it is easier to download music to your phone and listen to it whenever you want.

In the end we can say that turntable is the only old media that came from the past and became popular again.

About 20th century music

20th century was the century of revolution.

Everything  “evolved to the next level“, so did music. At the beginning the music was a bit like classic, but it was starting to “evolve“. The first types of music we know today were jazz and blues. Some really popular genres of music, such as pop and rock'n roll originated from jazz and blues.

The first rock'n roll was created in the USA and in the UK in early 50's. That was a kind of a shock for the world and for some people it was inappropirate. Some of the performers that were popular in the 50's and 60's were

Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Bee Gees and others.

In the 60's hippies were singing their songs, too. Famous hippies were Jimmi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and others.

Rock 'n roll was also “evolving“ at the beginning of the 70's. Some of the greatest bands of that time were Deep Purple, Black Sabath  and pop band ABBA.

Their songs are so famous that the world will never forget them.

80's were the total revolution of music because disco music was born. It was created at the beginning of the 70's in New York clubs. Disco music was a revolutionary type of music with machinery rythm and techno sounds.

P.S. I WISH YOU ALL MERRY CHRISTMAS with two beautiful songs, something old and something so, so new but classic.
