1st Etwinning quality label

We successfully finished eTwinning project "How do you see us?" with a school Miguel Hernandéz from Ocañe, Spain and we have just got an eTwinning Quality Label!

We are very proud of it!

The project lasted during the whole school year 2016/2017 where our students and teachers did a lot of great activities using digital technology

(animated presentation PowToon, making films, creating Grgur Ninski in three different ways and explaining the process in English, drawing a cartoon and transforming it into digital one).

QR Codes for St Valentine's Day

Instead of writing standard Valentine's cards, class 6.A and their English teacher Antonia Drlje chose something different and more interesting.

First, pupils were divided in groups of 4 and they watched a short clip about St Valentine's Day facts on Youtube. Then, they got questions written in QR code and they had to read the codes and answer the questions. The first group that answered all the  questions correctly won the competition.

Their next task was to write their own Valentine Cards in QR Code.

Pupils loved this activity and had fun learning how to use a new web tool.

Volleyball Competition 2018

Our school is part of the girls' volleyball competition between schools in Split. The competition lasts from January 20 - February 3. Stay tuned to find out more about it.

We practice a lot before the game.

This Saturday we played against the great team from Split 3.

Final results for the two games were 25:18  and 25:13 for Split 3. Unfortunately, we didn’t win but there is always a second chance :)

If you missed this game you can watch the next three games. There is one every Saturday for the next three weeks. They begin at 9:30 am, next to the Poljud pools. You can come and support our girls on their way to victory. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

GO SPINUT!!

our team with their coach, teacher Bracanović

journalists: Lara Bakarić and Lara Kondić, class 6.A

Once again, Spinut Elementary School participates in an international Christmas exhibition of nativity scenes.

The exhibition is traditionally opened on the feast of St. Lucy on December 13 in the crowded Old City Hall in Split. The work will be on view until Epiphany on January 6 2018.

The goal of participation in the traditional Christmas event is to promote millennia - old tradition of making Christmas nativity scenes. There are 42 exhibitors, including our School.

A group of pupils from grade 6. A (Lucija Pandža, Hana Damjanović, Lana Keč, Ana Paušić and Ula Reić) created a nativity scene with ribbed paper in their extracurricular activity. Older pupils painted triptych using stained glass technique.

 Chocolate crinkles class 4B

One of the many interesting things class 4B learns in Household is baking cookies. With the help of their teacher Ana Reić they made delicious chocolate crinkles.

Later, their English teacher Milena Kačunić helped them to translate the recipe. This was a fun and interesting way of using English.

Ingredients

2 eggs

 butter- 55 g

granulated  sugar- 100 g

dark chocolate- 220 g

vanilla extract

all purpose flour- 210 g

baking powder

a pinch of salt

           icing sugar

Procedure

Cut the chocolate. Melt the chocolate over a bowl of boiling water.  Leave the chocolate to cool.

Mix the butter with sugar and vanilla extract.  Add the cooled chocolate and mix. Add eggs. Stir briefly. Add flour to the mixture and mix thoroughly. Cover the mixture and leave in the fridge for three hours (or overnight).

Turn the oven to 180 degrees.

Form dough into 1.5 cm balls. Roll each ball into granulated sugar first, and then into icing sugar. Make sure each ball is completely coated.

Halloween

As part of their English lesson, classes 1A and 1B with their teacher Jelena Kukoč and 3rd graders with their teacher Milena Kačunić celebrated Halloween,  a festival popular in English-speaking countries.

The pupils learnt vocabulary related to the festival and talked about Halloween traditions. They played games such as Bingo, Catch the Ball and Find the Word, Abracadabra, Turn into a..., Who's Knocking? and role-played dialogues.

This was a fun way to learn new vocabulary and recycle greetings and introductions, as well as to learn about another culture.

4th graders and their teachers Sanja Bilač, Dijana Dvornik, Ana Reić and Religious Education teacher Ružica Maleš went on a field trip to Sinj. Here's their report...

Izvješće o izletu u Sinj

U petak, 13.10. 2017. Tamo smo vidjeli mnoge konje.

ODLAZAK U SINJ

Došao je taj dan. Odlazak u Sinj.

Ujutro u 7:45 polazak. Bili smo jako pospani ali i uzbuđeni. Kada smo došli u Sinj bilo nam je hladno. Znate, nije to kao u Splitu. Došli smo na trkalište Sinjske alke. Vidjeli smo poznati kip Alkara. Tamo smo pogledali kratki film. Nakon filma razgledavanje muzeja. U muzeju smo vidjeli alkarsku opremu i nošnju. Također, vidjeli smo sliku koju je nacrtao Irisin ujak. Put se nastavlja prema galeriji Stipe Sikirice. Tamo smo vidjeli kako su prije živjela djeca. Onda smo otišli do sportskog zračnog uzletišta. Poigrali smo se i uputili prema Splitu.

Htjela bih to ponoviti.

Izlet u Sinj

Iza toga smo stali i pojeli svoje marende. Otišli smo i do crkve Gospe Sinjske.

Autumn in our school ...

Autumn came and brought a lot of delicious fruits. Class 1B and their teacher Dubravka Biliškov went to the school kitchen. There they learned quickly and skillfully how to bake pancakes. They observed and tried blending, baking, and filling pancakes. All the pancakes were eaten immediately!

They returned to their classroom ready for work with their bellies full.

Class 2C and their teacher Lidija Čajkušić made an apple pie. The task wasn't easy, first they had to peel the apples, grate them and mix them with flour, eggs,  sugar and vanilla sugar. They formed small pies and put them in the owen.

Pupils enjoyed this task and the pies were delicious!!

We have the President of the Students' Council

The voting was organised in the school's lobby. A lot of students decided to come and give their vote for a person who will present our school in the city's Students' Council.

After counting the votes, teacher Željka Sokol announced that the new president is Antonio Šimundža. This is his second presidency.

World Savings Day

Our school was part of promotion of the financial literacy project. Privredna Banka Zagreb organised worshops for fourth and eight grade students. The aim was to teach children the basics of personal finance management through individual and group activities and to familiarize them with the basics of savings and investment concepts.

Two candidates presented their programme and plans for the position of the President of the Students' Council.

Laura Malenica (6A) thinks that she is the right choice because she isn't shy, she is confident and ready to accept other people's opinion even when she doesn't completely agree with it.

Antonio Šimundža (8C) is trying to win his second cosecutive presidency. He promised to present not only himself, but the entire school. He thinks that beeing a president is not just a responsibility but also an honour.

Students welcomed both of the candidates, and now they have to choose one of them... We wish the best of luck to both of candidates!
